  • Kansas head coach Bill Self hospitalized, undergoes heart procedure

    By JAMES MADDEN

Legendary Kansas head coach Bill Self was hospitalized on Thursday after experiencing “concerning symptoms.” The Hall of Fame member underwent a procedure to insert two stents and is expected to make a full recovery.

Self has missed five games over the past three years due to heart conditions, including three games during the 2023 Big 12 Tournament and two during the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Kansas athletics released a statement on Self:

“Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self felt unwell and experienced some concerning symptoms Thursday. He was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he had two stents inserted. The procedure went very well, and he is expected to make a full recovery. He is in good spirits and expects to be released from the hospital soon.”
