Alier Maluk, the 6-foot-11 Class of 2025 four star forward from Long Island Lutheran, committed to Florida State on Friday.
He chose the Seminoles over Pitt, Oregon, LSU and Ohio State. His most recent visit was to Florida State earlier this month.
“I committed now because I wanted to cancel out all the recruiting noise and focus on winning a Geico national championship,” Maluk told 247Sports.com.
“One of the big things coach [Leonard] Hamilton told me on my visit was ‘Would you rather a heart surgeon that’s done many procedures in the past or a surgeon that’s doing his first procedure?’ Along with that coach [Kevin] Nickelberry was the first coach to give me a scholarship when I was in the 8th grade and he was at LSU.”
“Alier has an extremely high ceiling,” LuHi assistant coach Jay David told ZAGSBLOG.
“He is one of the hardest workers every day in practice with a special skill set at 6’11 which stretches the floor. His motor consistently runs and I look forward to his continued growth on and off the floor.”

Maluk transferred to LuHi from Imani Christian (PA) after averaging 15.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game while helping Imani win WPIAL and PIAA Class 1A titles.
“It’s better competition and better everything overall,” Maluk said of his transfer.
